KARACHI: Gold rates drop in Pakistan after continous rise.
According to the details, following a brief one-day pause in market fluctuations, a noticeable dip in the gold rate in Pakistan was recorded across local bullion markets due to easing global demand.
According to the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association, the gold rate in Pakistan for 24-karat gold dropped by Rs 1,300 per tola, bringing the local market rate down to Rs 422,136 per tola.
Similarly, the price of 10-gram 24K gold registered a decline of Rs 1,115 to settle at Rs 361,913.
The price of silver also tracked the downward trend, falling by Rs 85 per tola to trade at Rs 5,793.
In the international bullion market, the benchmark spot gold price breached the critical $4,000 threshold once again as the gold rate in Pakistan reacted to overseas movements, decreasing by $14 per ounce to settle at $3,996.
Note on Gold Prices in Pakistan Over the Past Two Years
Over the past two years, the gold market in Pakistan has experienced extraordinary volatility and historic upward momentum.
Driven by a combination of global geopolitical tensions, central bank reserves accumulation, shifting interest rate expectations, and domestic economic dynamics, precious metals reached record high levels before undergoing periodic corrections.
Two years ago, in 2024, the yellow metal traded at significantly lower levels, supported by local currency fluctuations against the US dollar.
As international gold prices embarked on a massive rally—propelled by global central bank buying, inflation hedging, and monetary policy easing—the domestic market mirrored these gains closely.
By 2025, bullion had surged sharply, frequently setting all-time highs as per-tola prices crossed major psychological benchmarks.
The trajectory carried into early 2026, when international gold surged to historic highs, pushing local rates to unprecedented peaks before stabilizing into a correction phase.
Throughout this two-year period, domestic investors increasingly turned to physical gold as a hedge against inflation and local currency depreciation.
