RIYADH: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has said the Kingdom will respond firmly to any threat or attack against its security, while highlighting the role of the Makkah Joint Defence Alliance with Pakistan and Turkiye in strengthening regional security and cooperation.
Addressing the Shura Council on Wednesday, Prince Mohammed said attacks targeting Gulf Cooperation Council states had demonstrated that Gulf security and stability were closely interconnected. He also reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to reducing regional tensions and supporting diplomatic solutions.
Makkah Joint Defence Alliance to Strengthen Regional Security
Prince Mohammed said the Makkah Joint Defence Alliance between Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkiye would contribute to regional security and stability and help coordinate responses to shared challenges.
The agreement, signed in August, provides for collective defence, with an armed attack on one signatory treated as an attack on all three, according to Reuters. Military chiefs from the three countries subsequently met in Riyadh to discuss closer defence cooperation, including intelligence sharing and military coordination.
MBS Accuses Houthis of Choosing Chaos
Speaking about Yemen, the Crown Prince said Saudi Arabia would continue supporting the Yemeni government in restoring stability and extending its authority across the country.
He accused the Houthis of having chosen “chaos and destruction” and of posing a threat to Yemen and the wider region.
Saudi Arabia has faced a series of recent Houthi missile and drone attacks. Saudi authorities and regional bodies have reported interceptions of projectiles targeting areas of the Kingdom. S
Saudi Arabia Emphasises Maritime Security and Diplomacy
Prince Mohammed also said Saudi Arabia rejected the use of international waterways as a means of political or economic pressure. He highlighted the Kingdom’s multinational maritime defence initiative aimed at strengthening maritime security and protecting shared interests and freedom of navigation.

The Crown Prince also praised Saudi armed forces for confronting security threats and reiterated Riyadh’s stated commitment to reducing regional escalation and supporting diplomatic efforts.
The latest comments come amid heightened regional tensions and increased security coordination between Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkiye under the Makkah defence framework
